Your Vote Matters!

This election will be close in Florida; your vote is important. (These dates are all for 2024.)

Here is information on ID cards, three ways to vote, and transportation.

Registration (ends Oct 7)

Florida voter registration will close on October 7; if you’re not registered by then, you won’t be able to vote. Here’s an article on how to register (online or in person). It says you can register at any public library!

Am I Regstered?

You should receive a voter-information card in the mail. To check if your registration was successful, go here and then click the blue button “Am I Already Registered?”

Identification Card: Required

Before voting, you will need an ID. (If you vote in person, be sure to bring it with you!)

Your ID must show your photo and your signature. You can bring two IDs — one for photo and one for signature.

How to get a Florida State ID:

VoteRiders can help you get ID for free.

You can get ID at a Driver’s License Office. (Find offices in your county.) There will be a fee (about $25).

You must bring these three types of documents:

    1. Proof of identity: US birth certificate, passport, certificate of naturalization, or certificate of citizenship.
    2. Social Security card, pay check/stub, SA-1099, or a printed (not handwritten) W-2 or 1099.
    3. TWO documents showing your name and address. For example, mail received from a bank or the government, a rental agreement, vehicle registration, utility bill, medical card with address listed, W-2 form, or 1099 form. If you have a voter registration card, that can be one of the two.

Your Voting Options

Think ahead of time about how you want to vote. It’s good to talk together, with friends and in your community, about these plans.

  • Vote by Mail: if you ask in time you can get a ballot in the mail, which can be returned by mail or in person.
  • Early Voting: special voting locations will be open starting Oct 26.
  • In Person: Nov 5th, 7am – 7pm, only at your assigned voting location. There could be long lines or other problems, so we suggest voting early or by mail if possible.

Do you have transportation? Can you help drive others to vote? See below.

Vote By Mail

You can request a mail-in ballot before October 24.  You will need a Florida ID or Florida Driver’s License. A ballot will be mailed to you, with instructions on how to return it.
To request a vote-by-mail ballot:

  • By phone or in person: look up the phone # or address of your Supervisor of Elections (click on your county).
  • By mail: download and print this form; mail it to the Supervisor of Elections (same address as in person, above). You can use a printer at public libraries.

To ask about your request, call the Supervisor of Elections. Here is the official Florida State website about vote-by-mail.

Early Voting

You can vote in person, any day from Saturday, Oct 26 until Saturday, Nov 2. Go at an Early Voting location, and bring your ID.

Early Voting locations should be announced soon. You can call the Supervisor of Elections to ask about locations. Here is the official Florida State website on early voting.

Election Day

Tuesday, Nov 5, 2024, 7am to 7pm.

We suggest early voting, if possible. In case of any problem, or if lines are long, Nov 5th will be your last opportunity. (In past years, long waits have been used to discourage people from voting; don’t let them steal your power to vote!)

Be sure to bring ID and go to your assigned voting location for that day.

If you are in line by 7pm, they must let you vote.

Transportation

Think about travel ahead of time: Can you drive a friend or two? Can someone take you? Is there a good bus route?

Need a free ride? Can you offer rides? Rideshare2Vote matches drivers with riders; you can use the Web form or their Android app. (No charge!)
